Rising tide - Winter Solstice

£350.00

This 14 coloured layered reduction linocut depicts a sparse riverscape in mid winter. The sky is made up of soft pastel hues at dusk and the trees are mostly bare and skeletal. As one of my favourite walks, I enjoy the ever changing dialogue between the land, sky and water, depending on the time of day and season.

I began this linocut in January (during a ‘Meet the Artist’ session at Watts Gallery, as part of the ‘heartlands show I was involved in) This exhibition brought together work by eight Surrey-based artists to celebrate the county’s treasured landscapes. Its been a long time in the making! The sky and water are cut from the key reduction block, whilst the trees are cut from a second block. Scroll across to see how the image is built up, if interested.
